More family pictures [EDITED]

Welcome to all family and friends who are stopping by to view these bits of history.

Dad flying around the farm in le Cessna.  This picture was part of a series taken for a [state] Department of Agriculture publication, although none of the pictures made it into the book.  You'll probably see a few more of these in a future post.

Delicious peaches.  We won't discuss how it feels to pick fuzzy peaches on a hot summer day.  And we definitely won't talk about what happens when you reach around to pick a peach and the other side is being eaten by seventeen bees.

Baby Me!

Never saw this picture of Mum before now.

The last three troublemakers.

  1. Your dad is a pilot! Neat. Did he ever take the kids on flights?

  2. Dad didn't get his pilots license until I was a young whippersnapper. Had a 150 then traded it in for a 172. Pretty sure I flew with him more than any of the other kids. I have very fond memories of these times, especially the stalls and lazy eights. Occasionally after Sunday Mass, we would fly to a "fly-in" restaurant (a Perkins' Pancake House as I recall) a few hours north. Always got the Reuben sandwich.

  3. Forgot to mention, TH2, that I had a special affinity for "YYZ" because the VOR we used for navigation was "ZZV". If your brain is like mine, you'll see the connection. Can still hear the Morse Code for the ZZV VOR....

  4. ZZV... Remember- it's pronounced "zed zed vee", not "zee zee vee". Similarly: YYZ "why why zed", not "why why zee" :)

  5. You just go ahead and pronounce it that way. ;-p

Interesting, though, that you typed "why" and not "wy". I pronounce "why" as /hwy/. That was the subject of a post on the previous blog, BTW. Anyone interested in the subject can search "wine/whine merger".
